On August 13, 2012 I had a unique opportunity as a workshop presenter for the inaugural Girls Leadership Track for the University of St. Catherine’s popular annual Summer Chautauqua Lifelong Learning Series. I was honored to present last year for the event for adults with a presentation about integrating social media into everyday life. Being asked to participate in this year’s Girls Leadership Track was exciting as it gave me an opportunity to put together a hands on workshop to prepare girls and their families on how to use social media to make meaningful impact in the world as well as how teenage girls can establish a powerful online presence to advance their future careers. Whew that’s a lot to include in one seminar, but it was a great experience to share my expertise in social media as well as my personal experience launching my daughter Astronaut Abby online. The young women were excited to have the opportunity to learn about social media and how building positive relationships can make a difference in their lives and the parents were excited to get some guidance on how to help their daughters be successful while still protecting them.
