The NOW Revolution is a must read for any business big or small. It is not about social media tactics and tools. It is a high level view of the steps businesses and organizations need to take to become social businesses. Although this book addresses this transformation from a large organizational stand point, I believe that there is a lesson for every company, every business, every organization regardless of size. My favorite aspect of this book is that it is set up to be actionable. It’s only 192 pages, so you can read it quickly – but those pages are filled with the nuts and bolts for businesses to move forward NOW and make things happen. An added bonus is the use of Microsoft Tag Technology within the book to scan and get more information using your smartphone. So even the book is 192 pages self-contained and ready to go, if you feel inclined you can pull up supporting information with every chapter. A great way to use new technology to provide supplemental information without bogging down the main points of the book. Here is a brief overview of the seven shifts Amber and Jay identify as necessary for companies to become social businesses: Shift 1 Engineer a New Bedrock – Shifting organizational culture to prepare for this new world of real-time communications. Breaking down silos is a big issue. Creating a social company where everyone has a voice and everyone is seen as an ambassador.
